State AGs get HIPAA Lawsuit Training

The Department of Health and Human Services’ Office for Civil Rights has concluded its initial road tour of training for State Attorney Generals. The website Gov Info Security reports that the four-city tour covering Dallas Atlanta, Washington and San Francisco concluded this month.  The OCR Deputy Director for Health Information Privacy said, “that state attorneys general will be better prepared to carry out their new authority under the HITECH Act in enforcing HIPAA.” After these regional meetings; computer based training will be offered.
